Cradle Cap Ceases

Recently my husband and I had a bout with cradle cap on our son's scalp. It was black, flaky, and stinky! My other two daughters also had a case of this. I believe my six month old experienced it the worse. It was so bad, a family member tried to scrape it off. That left a gaping bald spot on my son's head. The hair grew back, but the cradle cap yet remained. My pediatrician suggested using baby oil to soften the cradle cap. She said that next morning comb the cradle cap out of the baby's hair. The drawback is that the hair comes out as well. I chose to just wash it daily or every other day. It has come out on its own. I am relieved as I don't have to smell it or see it anymore!

Baby Formula Recall

Two weeks ago approximately I was watching the news when I heard that Similac Advance powdered formulas may have been contaminated with beetle larvae. I immediately when on-line to the site and determined that, sure enough, my son's formula had been recalled. It was not the most alarming thing I've ever experienced. As a new mother again and a mother of two older children I've dealt with cradle cap, jaundice, blood issues, to loss of hearing. Nevertheless, we've ended up switching to Infamil as it is hard to find any form of Similac in stores now. Initially we switched to another type, then we used the liquid version of the recalled. That liquid version is too expensive for the quantity. Trust me, none of this is a cause for complaint, but rather of giving thanks to God. I just went to a funeral today for a 20 year old. I'm grateful to be a mother or mine, no matter what!

Overcome Public Speaking Anxiety

How To Go From Novice To Expert Public Speaker In Three Days...

I recall my 9th grade English class on the first day of school and how devastated and embarrassed I was. My pleasant and appealing teacher with a big smile on her face walked around to each of us oblivious freshmen and offered us a piece of yarn that was attached still to the spool. I watched as my classmates pulled long and short pieces of yarn. When it came my turn I cut off a long piece of yarn. Lo and behold, we had to stand and tell about ourselves while wrapping the yarn around our finger. The longer the piece of yarn, the longer your oral self-description had to be. I stood and began to wrap that red yarn around my finger and all I muttered was, "My nam, ma, ma, my name is." Then I sat down. My teacher graciously smiled and moved on to the next item for business as I was the last student to present. Needless to say I felt defeated all day knowing that I did not control that anxiety associated with public speaking before my peers.

Visit the expert page for more information on how to overcome public speaking anxiety.

Twenty years later I can't say that I don't still get nervous, but I know that preparation, practice, and prayer are keys to my success! These three factors remove the fear, but that doesn't mean to say I don't struggle with not wanting to engage crowds of folk. When I am around family or at my church, I am most comfortable. I am also comfortable with someone to share the lime light or when seated. I teach 100 something days out of the year and can say I have no problems there. So you see, I am an over-comer! You can be too:Q

Teeth Sensitivity

The last three to five years yielded great pain by way of teeth aching in my bottom and top molars. I was told by the dental hygienist to use Sensodyne or some other type of sensitive toothpaste, but it did not click. I thought they meant using it once was a fix. Boy, was I wrong!

I would wince in pain from soda, cold liquid, warm liquid, cold food, warm food, and crunchy food. Finally another six months came and at that check-up at the dentist I realized that I had to use a sensitivity toothpaste for the duration.

Since my use of Sensodyne I have had soothing relief to all those woes. I have gotten used to the unique taste of the paste. My family even uses it when theirs runs out! It doesn't taste that bad. Regardles, if you're having pain, try sensitive tooth paste. It may not taste sugary like the normal brands, but they are effective for minor sensitivity issues.
